Gospel music has joined communities together for generations. And community is at the root of our How Sweet the Sound celebration. Without our talented choirs and enthusiastic crowds, our 2009 experience would have never happened. Get your tickets today, for the How Sweet the Sound 2009 Grand Finale in Detroit on November 7th. And because community is even more than just music, we ask you to join us in collecting phones for victims of domestic violence for our Hopeline© program. Help us celebrate the arts with our community art program, or sing your heart out at our gospel karaoke booth found on the concourse during the grand finale. You can also have fun online by playing our SWEETstakes – your chance to win Weekly prizes, along with one final Grand Prize.
Old Phones = New Hope
Choirs and audiences across America have donated 7,941 wireless devices toward Verizon Wireless' Hopeline initiative during the 2009 tour and you can continue to give. Almost everybody has at least one mobile phone they’re no longer using. So we ask you to gather up your phones and take it to a Verizon Wireless Communications Store near you. There, you can drop off your old wireless phone, battery and accessories in support of our HopeLine Program. Your generous donation will benefit victims of domestic violence all over the country.
Gospel Karaoke
Everyone wants to sing, but maybe not in front of ten thousand people! Thousands of you opted for our Gospel Karaoke stages on the concourse of every How Sweet the Sound 2009 event for the opportunity to sing for a smaller crowd. Who knows, maybe your performance even made it on the big screen during the show.
