Liz Black was born in Fort Jay, New York, where, at the young age of 5, she started emceeing school events and home shows.
After high school, Liz became a full time model appearing in TV commercials and Billboard ads. She was also called in to audition for some of the top soap operas, including day time favorite All My Children.
After 18 years in the modeling business, Liz accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She made a pledge to no longer audition for cigarette ads, alcohol ads or audition for anything that would not aid in the well being of young people or her commitment to God.
In 1990, Liz began touring with Al Dixon Life Games, a group of athletes determined to make a difference in the lives of young people. For next 11 years Liz toured and helped establish a youth and young adult outlet called The Christian Jam Network.
In 2001 New Mercies Café “A Gospel Experience & Showcase” was birthed. After 6 years New Mercies Café is one of the top gospel café’s in the New York tri-state area. In 2002 Liz became a graduate of the National Broadcasters Training School. Liz sat under the apprenticeship of veteran radio personality Kevin Cottrell of Salem Communications WMCA-570/WWDJ-970. For the past 5 years, Liz hosted a weekly NJ/NY WFDU 89.1 FM’s Gospel Grooves program, where she promises to bring you the hottest gospel music this side of heaven. Determined to bring the music from above, her listeners gave her the name “Radio Angel”.
For years you could catch Liz on Gospel Grooves Tuesday mornings 1:15 AM - 6:00 AM. Liz was also heard daily on 970 WWDJ with The Wake Up Call, where she co-hosted with Kevin Cottrell. Liz also served as a guest host on 98.7 WRKS Kiss Inspirations, New York’s #1 urban station.
Today you can listen to Liz hosting Sunday Morning Praise on 1190am WLIB from 10am-3pm. wlib.com and filling in for the Yolanda Adams Morning Show, Midday Inspiration and Afternoon Praise with Bishop Hez Walker.

Liz is currently a member of the Christian Comedy Association and Gospel Announcers Guild. She has performed at Caroline’s Comedy club in NYC twice. She believes each one of the areas God has given her to minister gives people a little joy and brings laughter into their lives.
Liz is married to her wonderful husband Rick Black and resides in northern New Jersey. She attends the Agape Christian Ministries Church in Paterson, NJ where the pastor is Rev. Dr. James A. Kuykendall.
