Sheri Jones-Moffett is a voice that has been part of the gospel music industry for the past twelve years.
Moffett began her career as a member of Donald Lawrence’s now legendary Tri-City Singers in the 1990s. This break into the gospel music industry put Moffett in a place to be mentored by one of the genre’s most prolific songwriters and producers, Donald Lawrence. “Donald took me under his wing,” recalls Moffett. “He said he got a very strong feeling in his heart to raise me and train me.”
Moffett followed her time with the Tri-City Singers as part of Ted & Sheri. Partnered with Ted Winn, they released two critically-acclaimed albums, “The Healing Starts Right There…” and “Celebrate.”
“I believe there was an assignment for me in both entities … being part of a large choir taught me humility and what it meant to be a part of a team – part of something bigger than myself,” Moffett said. “While being part of a duo I learned how to be transparent … how to cover my partner and have my partner cover me. It’s all been important training for me to get to this place.”
Throughout her career in gospel, Moffett has worked with a bevy of other gospel music giants including Donnie McClurkin, Kurt Carr, Kim Burrell and Kirk Franklin. She was also featured on The Clark Sisters Reunion Tour.
Her solo work, Renewed, breaks down any perceptions that people might have had of Moffett as an artist. Having written almost every song on the album, Moffett may strike a chord with many people. “I hope to make that connection with people because I am able to put in song what they may not be able to articulate.”
Moffett promises to pour out her heart to those who are willing to listen. “I want everybody to know that we have a great gift God has given to us! And that is… Changing your life begins with changing your mind. Old things have passed away and behold all things are new!”
