Christopher J. Watkins is a noted director and composer. Known in the music industry for his humility and sincerity, Watkins calls St. Louis, Missouri home.
Watkins began playing the piano and organ at church in his early teens under the leadership of his mother, Anita Watkins-Stevens, who is also a noted musician and composer. In 2000, Watkins, along with best friend Kyle Kelley formed “Chris and Kyle with True Spirit” and released their debut CD, Comin’ Out From Under in 2002. They have ministered with gospel greats and other artists including Donald Lawrence, Byron Cage, Darwin Hobbs, Israel and New Breed, Trace Adkins, The Clark Sisters, Joyce Meyers, Michael McDonald and Lyle Lovett to name a few.
Watkins has written for a number of noted artists and ministries in the gospel arena such as Kevin Bond, Bishop Eddie Long and New Birth Total Praise Choir, Hampton’s Ministers Conference, GMWA, Edwin Hawkins/Bishop Walter Hawkins Music and Arts Seminar, Wilmington Chester Mass Choir, as well as songs on upcoming new projects from Ricky Dillard and New G, Bishop George Bloomer and Pastor Rudolph McKissick.
